I couldn’t figure out why some of my most popular videos on YouTube were getting thumbs down.
Turns out, the titles and thumbnails were not matching what people expected to see.
My videos were showing up for searches in YouTube, but the search intent of the viewers didn’t align to the video content.
So, what I did is re-watch the videos, took notes on what the topic was, and got crystal clear about what content viewers could expect to find in the titles and thumbnails.
Some of the videos went up in weekly views, others went down in weekly views. But it seems like the accumulation of “thumbs down” ground to a halt.
If you are suffering the same malaise, where you are making good video content, but they are still getting thumbs down on YouTube, adjust the titles and thumbnails. It could be viewers are not getting the exact thing they expect to see and hear.
