Don’t Stop Marketing When You’re Already Busy

I’m a firm believer that when you’re busiest is when you need to step on the gas the hardest.

When you’re getting more and more business through the door, it’s a sign you’re doing something right.

In 2016 and beyond, SEO is all about building a strong brand. Don’t believe that? Look at the sites that rank well for any industry in your city. I’d wager 90% of the top results are all strong brands.

Keeping your brand top of mind means marketing when you’re busiest, so that your sales pipeline stays full.

Staying Top Of Mind Means Planning for Future Sales

In the midst of doing the work, you must be diligent to always make time to market your local business. This is the reason I make time to go to local Chamber of Commerce events, record a twice-a-week WordPress business podcast, write blog posts like this one, and reach out to past clients and industry peers.

As busy as we get here in Sacramento, it’s always in the back of my mind that it can slow down just as quickly. That’s why it’s important to continually reinvest in your business. You want to make sure that your brand perception is as strong as it can possibly be.

Don’t take your foot off the gas and keep marketing, even when you’re busy. Especially when you’re busy.

Success Is Never A One-and-Done Scenario

When you have a business that’s been around for a long time, it’s easy to take success for granted. But the truth is, there’s always going to be competitors who are hungrier than you are.

Many of my clients come to me because they’re in this exact situation. They’ve been successful for a very long time, and new competitors see that success. Those new competitors see an opportunity, and pursue success very aggressively.

Being #1 in Google is not a Championship title belt. You don’t have to get pinned or KO’d to see it slip from your fingers.

Success is something you have to keep working at every day to retain. Part of that is making sure your competitors never have the opportunity to gain a foothold.

Smart businesses continually invest in their visibility, their branding, their website, and their local community.

Have people in your market already heard of your business? Do they know what you do?

Having a strong brand means you are already in their minds before they ever need to pick up the phone to hire you.

Practicing What I Preach

If you’ve read this blog for any period of time, you’ll know that I look at paid advertising as one of the last things you should do when building your brand online.

But just this last week, I signed a sales contract for the right opportunity. It was the right thing to do, at the right time, and I believe it’s the first step (of many) in solidifying my brand even more here in Sacramento.

I’m not gonna lie. This was the most money that I’ve ever dropped on any type of marketing so far. But it’s leaps of faith like this one that I feel will help take Lockedown Design & SEO to the next level.

2016 is been a really breakout year so far. Because of the growth my own web design business has been experiencing, I’ve been able to land bigger and bigger projects.

Scarcity mindset is something I do not wish to possess. You have to give to get.

Sometimes you have to invest to get even bigger returns.

Leaps of Faith Are Necessary For Growth

In 45 BC, the Roman orator Cicero said “All things have small beginnings”. I believe that to be true.

I also believe the two things that differentiate any business are how persistent they are in pursuing their goal, and the values they exhibit while chasing that goal.

Consider your own business. Think of how great it could be if you really focused on growth, and took a leap of faith of your own.
